Thank you to Port Elgin and Southampton branches of CIBC who are collecting food items on behalf of Family Heritage Day for the Food Bank, from February 7th – 18th in their front lobby areas. Thanks also to Food Land, Southampton and Your Independent, Port Elgin for the use of their grocery carts to collect the food in!

Model railroading, snowshoeing, quilting, spinning, taffy rolling, leather work, sweet grass braiding, and more! Try your hand at some of the historic skills pioneers needed to survive.

Enjoy chilli, soup, hotdogs, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate at the cash food booth!

Special Guests – 11:00 am to 2:00 pm – presented by Historic Saugeen Métis
Enjoy the infectious rhythms of Métis and traditional fiddling performed by Canadian Champion Fiddler Shane Cook and elite musicians Kyle Charron, champion keyboard artist, and Brian Pickell, accomplished composer, guitarist, and banjo and mandolin player.

Shane Cook – Award winning fiddler

Shane Cook is a three-time Canadian Open National fiddle champion and is the only foreigner to have ever won the US Grand National Fiddle Championship. Shane has distinguished himself as a leading exponent of the Canadian old-time fiddle tradition and enjoys playing in an array of fiddle styles ranging from Irish and Scottish to French-Canadian, Texan, and Bluegrass. Shane leads his own group and performs with several ensembles including the PBS hit, Bowfire. He has toured extensively in Canada, the US, the UK, Ireland, Germany, China and Taiwan.
