2019 KidZone Summer Day Camp

Camp operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays join us for one day or the whole summer!

Registration: Pre-registration and prepayment are both required and can be done at the Museum or by calling (519)797-2080. 2018 Childrens Health Form are due before the first day of camp.

Bruce County Child Activity Assistance Program – Click here to download the BCCAAP Application Form 2017.  Eligibility – To qualify for subsidy for non-sports related activities, applicants must be residents of Bruce County and have a gross family income less than $30,000.00 per year.  Subsidy is available for dependent children, living at home who are under the age of 18.

Fees: Members $28*/day  Public $33*/day

Ages: 5 – 12 (must be 5 by date of attendance, no exceptions)

Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Early drop-off  8 – 8:30 a.m. $3/day   Late pick-up 5 – 5:30 p.m. $3/day

Location: Drop-off/pick-up is at the BCM&CC unless otherwise stated.  If you are picking up your child early, please let the counsellors know at the start of the day.

What to Bring:

  • Outdoor gear including sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and a refillable water bottle
  • Two snacks and a peanut-free lunch
  • Proper footwear (Flip flops can be difficult and unsafe to play in)
  • Extra clothes (for the days we may get wet)
  • DO NOT bring electronics (including MP3s, video game devices, cell phones) or toys ( the Museum is not responsible for missing articles)

A Typical Day*

  • 9 a.m.     Daily introductions and exhibit exploration while the Museum is closed to the public

  • 12 p.m. Half-hour lunch
  • 12:30 p.m. Outdoor exploration which may include a hike around Fairy Lake or a trip to the park (weather permitting), games and activities
  • 3 p.m. Crafts, games, final snack, and free time at the Museum

*Schedule subject to change due to weekly special guests or outings (available online in June), weather and availability of activities

Important Information

  • Campers must be signed in and out daily by an adult (please inform the Museum if someone different is picking up your child)
  • All allergies and food sensitivities (including peanut, gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free etc.) must be clearly marked on the health form as some crafts involve various ingredients

! Special Guest on July 24 – The Marine Heritage Society will be coming to build cardboard boats with us!

Week 5 – July 30 – August 1 “Me on the Map”

! Field Trip on July 31 to Saugeen Bluffs

Week 6 – August 6-8 “Rainforest Adventure”

! Field Trip on August 7 to Grey Roots Museum

Week 7 – August 13-15 “Fantastic Festivals”

! Special Guest on August 14 – Earth Rangers will be at the Museum for a presentation

Week 8 – August 20-22 “Artful Antics”

! Field Trip on August 21 to Swing Spring and Flip in Port Elgin

Week 9 – August 27-29 “Party Week”

!Field Trip on August 28 to Topp Performance in Port Elgin”
