Donations

Our success is made possible, in part, by the support we receive through our strong relationships with you, our donors. Your generosity ensures that we will continue to inspire, educate and remain the premier destination of choice for exploring our history.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the building blocks of our Museum. All our activities and programs depend on the assistance of dedicated volunteers.

Senior Programming

At the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, we want to bring the Museum into the community through the use of hands-on activities.

A Museum is more than just a place to look at artifacts from the past, it is a place to learn about, discover, and interact with the artifacts. The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, wants to ensure that visitors have an unforgettable experience, and have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities. Being able to handle artifacts and examine them is an activity that is enjoyed by visitors of all ages. The memories and stories that these objects invoke is a great way to start a conversation or to teach others something new.

Our outreach program is designed to bring the Museum to seniors’ groups. We have nine different programs that can be run; each is approximately an hour in length. Each program will be lead by someone from the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre.

Other themes are available, please call for more information about the other available programs.

Take a peek into the history of Bruce County through photographs. Seniors have the opportunity to guess where the photo was taken and to match the past photo with the present day photo.

This is a great box for seniors to relive their parents and even their own fashions. There are a variety of hats and shoes available from a range of decades each with a unique story. This box is always a hit around the spring time when everyone’s bringing out their summer hats and shoes.

Relive the past through handling military artifacts from the First and Second World Wars. Reminisce and learn about the artifacts and seniors have the opportunity to talk about their own experiences during this time period.

The pioneer box is full of artifacts that pioneers would use in their daily lives. Life was tough during this time, so it took a variety of interesting tools to make life easier.

This box is full of dolls ranging from the early 1800’s to the 1960’s. This includes an authentic Shirley Temple doll. This box always prompts great conversation on their own dolls to what their grand children are playing with these days.
