BCM&CC to host talk with Canada’s top war historian and author Tim Cook for Remembrance Week

In honour of Remembrance Week, the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre will host an afternoon in conversation with Canada’s top war historian and author Tim Cook on November 9.

Presented by local historian Mat Johnson, this talk will be livestreamed exclusively within the Museum’s Bruce Power Theatre from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and will focus on Canada’s role during World War I and Cook’s latest book Lifesavers and Body Snatchers: Medical Care and the Struggle for Survival in the Great War.

“As we honour and reflect on the contributions of Canadian soldiers to the war effort ahead of Remembrance Day, guests will have a special opportunity to hear acclaimed Canadian author and historical expert Tim Cook speak about medical services in the war, including some darker, secret practices, that gave rise to new innovations in medicine,” says Museum Program Coordinator Evan Vatri.

Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase at the BCM&CC gift shop in advance of the talk.

A question-and-answer period will follow. Museum Members and Veterans free. General Admission applies. Visit brucemuseum.ca to register or call 519-797-2080.
