Take a Virtual Adventure with us this Winter

Traveling near and far, these explorers have been on trips of a lifetime and are excited to share their journey, stories and photographs with you. Please join us in this three-part virtual series to learn about some of the world’s most wonderful places.   Please be sure to check all of your inboxes including “junk” if the email does not appear in your primary inbox.

This program will be hosted virtually on YouTube, your link will be emailed the day prior to the presentation.

February 10 – Dan Wong  – Adventures in the Arctic Wilderness: Tales by a Northern Canoe Guide

Northern canoe guide Dan Wong will share stories from his first summer in the Arctic after taking over Alex Hall’s 43-year-old business: Canoe Arctic Inc. His presentation will share tales from the tundra: arctic wolf den discoveries, stampeding herds of muskoxen, and a trip to Canada’s newest national park: Thaidene Nene. Participants will learn about Dan’s epic adventures (and misadventures) that weave between the traditional river routes Alex pioneered, and the guests and guides who continue to explore them. Dan is the owner of Jackpine Paddle, based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and offers fully-guided expeditions by canoe and kayak to the most remote and spectacular places in the Canadian North.

February 24 – Joanne Sutton  – Solo Travel: Tips, hints and ideas for travelling alone, anyone can do it!

Joanne Sutton is a retired Human Resources Professional.  Born and raised in Alberta, she moved to Ontario in her early twenties and enjoyed a couple of successful careers before retiring in 2018.  Always a fan of travel, she has been to a wide variety of destinations over the years, including Canada and the US, several countries in Europe, Egypt, Fiji, Turkey, and Russia, with many more on the bucket list for the future.  While she does not always travel alone, not having a travel companion doesn’t stop her!

March 10 – Mert Taner  – The Cradle of Civilizations -Turkey

Mert Taner is a native of Izmir, Turkey, and resident of both Istanbul and the Aegean port town of Kusadasi. He has been a leader of cultural tours through Turkey for over 24 years, and has had the privilege of guiding many celebrities including Tom Hanks, Alan Greenspan, and Paul Allen. Mert will share his architectural and archaeological knowledge of his country and leave the audience in love with Turkey and its people.
