Shipwrecked! Camp

July 27, 2026

- July 31, 2026

9:00 am
 – 4:00 pm

Step back in time to when tall ships crossed the Great Lakes and storms could swallow entire crews. In this week‑long camp, our older explorers will dive into the real history of Lake Huron shipwrecks, with a special spotlight on the HMS General Hunter, a War of 1812 schooner still resting off Southampton’s shore.

Through stories, hands‑on art, museum gallery visits, and outdoor explorations, campers will discover life aboard a schooner, how wrecks form, and how artifacts reveal the past. They’ll practice sailor knots, send signal flags, design “unsinkable” vessels, and build creative dioramas inspired by Lake Huron’s hidden history. By week’s end, everyone will have their own maritime‑themed creations and help build a collaborative “Maritime Museum” showcase for family and friends!

Ages 10 – 12 years | Space is limited, preregistration and prepayment required.

$250 Member | $280 Non-member (Plus applicable fees).
