January 12, 2026

7:00 pm

WEBINAR via Zoom

Jodi will take you on a journey into the fascinating world of family stories. Are they true, a little stretched, or completely made up? With a touch of Sherlock Holmes’ logic, creative research skills, and a willingness to explore irresistible rabbit holes, Jodi shows how to uncover the facts—or reveal the myths—behind family lore.

Jodi will share two of her own adventures in research: one that unravels the tale of a Bruce County jail break, and another that connects Boss Grey’s Castle near Tiverton with a Philadelphia marble works, the Kincardine Salt Works, and the life of a remarkable female artist. Many will also recognize Jodi from her “If These Walls Could Talk …” columns in the Grey/Bruce & Huron/Perth Boomers magazines or her three published local history books. With her passion for history and storytelling, this promises to be an engaging, eye-opening, and thoroughly enjoyable talk!

About Jodi Bell

Research rabbit holes are Jodi Bell’s favourite hunting grounds for information that expands beyond birth, marriage and death stats. Utilizing her Masters in Public History Training, history book writing, and columnist experience, she finds the sources that gives people and places of the past more relevance and nuance.
