DESCRIPTION:Join community members from the Chippewas of Saugeen and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation for more insight about the Witness Blanket exhibit and deeper awareness into local and person experiences.    \nWednesdays\, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM   \nOctober 7\, 14\, 21\, 28   \nNovember 4\, 18 and 25   \nThe Witness Blanket is a powerful art installation created by master carver Carey Newman to recognize the atrocities of the residential school era\, honour the children and symbolize ongoing reconciliation. Inspired by a woven blanket\, this cedar-framed artwork is made of hundreds of items from Indian residential schools\, Survivors\, churches\, governments and other cultural sites across Canada. Each item tells a story of loss\, strength\, resilience and pride. The installation on display is a replica of the original Witness Blanket.  \nFREE to attend. Preregistration is required. DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 22 | 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM  \nIn honour of Remembrance Day\, we welcome acclaimed historian\, broadcaster\, and bestselling author Ted Barris for a presentation based on his book Rush to Danger: Medics in the Line of Fire.  \nThis compelling talk highlights the significant contributions of military medics\, surgeons\, nursing sisters\, stretcher-bearers\, orderlies\, and ambulance drivers who disregarded their own well-being to save the lives of others on the battlefield.    \nAmong the stories featured is that of Ted’s own father\, Sergeant Medic Alex Barris. Lost within the larger story of the Battle of the Bulge is a remarkable account of sacrifice and survival that took Ted nearly a lifetime to uncover.
