Lost within the larger story of the Battle of the Bulge is a remarkable account of sacrifice and survival that took Ted nearly a lifetime to uncover. DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 12 | 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM   \nOne of the greatest survival stories in history began when Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ship\, Endurance\, became trapped and ultimately crushed by Antarctic ice during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-1917. Against extraordinary odds\, Shackleton led his crew to safety through months of hardship on the ice\, a perilous voyage across the Southern Ocean\, and a daring mountain crossing of South Georgia Island.  \nDrawing on his five journeys to Antarctica\, including an expedition tracing Shackleton’s route through the Weddell Sea\, Elephant Island\, and South Georgia\, intrepid adventurer Ian Evans brings this remarkable story to life. DESCRIPTION:Join community members from the Chippewas of Saugeen and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation for more insight about the Witness Blanket exhibit and deeper awareness into local and person experiences.    \nWednesdays\, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM   \nOctober 7\, 14\, 21\, 28   \nNovember 4\, 18 and 25   \nThe Witness Blanket is a powerful art installation created by master carver Carey Newman to recognize the atrocities of the residential school era\, honour the children and symbolize ongoing reconciliation. Inspired by a woven blanket\, this cedar-framed artwork is made of hundreds of items from Indian residential schools\, Survivors\, churches\, governments and other cultural sites across Canada. Each item tells a story of loss\, strength\, resilience and pride. The installation on display is a replica of the original Witness Blanket.  \nFREE to attend. Preregistration is required.
