SUMMARY:Black History Month: The Fabric of our Being Project
DESCRIPTION:Join artist and President’s Poet Nadine Williams for a powerful\, hands-on public art experience honouring the International Decade for People of African Descent—a UN global initiative recognizing the contributions\, histories\, and rights of people of African descent\, and encouraging communities to learn\, reflect on\, and celebrate diversity.  \nEach person will create an 8.5” x 11” tile (materials will be provided)—or contribute ideas for a tile—representing “the fabric of your being”: your experiences\, values\, culture\, or the elements that make you YOU. These individual pieces will be designed and stitched together by The Nadine Williams Collective to form a collaborative quilt that will be publicly unveiled at a later date and permanently displayed at the BCM&CC as a symbol of diversity\, inclusion\, and shared community pride.  \nThis inclusive program welcomes everyone to participate. No art experience is required.  \nAges 8+\, children must be accompanied by an adult; all registrants must be preregistered.  \nFREE; Space is limited\, preregistration required.    \nFunding for this project is provided by Community Foundation Grey Bruce.  \nSEE FULL DETAILS AND REGISTRATION >>

SUMMARY:How to Trace Ancestors Through Letters and Postcards\, with guest Kathryn Lake Hogan
DESCRIPTION:WEBINAR via Zoom \nFamily history goes beyond vital statistics; it’s about listening to the voices of our ancestors. Letters\, postcards\, telegrams\, and other everyday forms of communication bring personal experiences to life and add context that official records often lack. Learn how to find these materials in archives\, local collections\, and family holdings\, and interpret them as historical evidence. Discover how to analyze handwriting\, postmarks\, and even the language of telegrams to trace migration\, community connections\, and family ties. Diaries\, autograph books\, and early phone directories will also be highlighted as sources that capture ordinary lives. Attendees will leave with strategies to uncover and preserve these fragile yet powerful records of daily life. \nRegister HERE: https://bit.ly/2026-02-09-KathrynLakeHogan \nHosted by Bruce County Genealogical Society.

SUMMARY:Now Open: Fashion Over Function
DESCRIPTION:January 16 – March 31 \nFashion is a powerful expression of culture\, and hats have long played a role in making bold statements. From vibrant colours to diverse materials\, fashionable headwear reflects both personal style and societal trends.  \nThis exhibit highlights some of the most distinctive hats in our collection\, exploring the design elements that define various styles. Spanning from the early 1900s to the present day\, these pieces reveal how fashion choices—especially in headwear—can reflect individuality\, identity\, and the spirit of the times.
