One of the greatest survival stories in history began when Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ship, Endurance, became trapped and ultimately crushed by Antarctic ice during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-1917. Against extraordinary odds, Shackleton led his crew to safety through months of hardship on the ice, a perilous voyage across the Southern Ocean, and a daring mountain crossing of South Georgia Island.
Drawing on his five journeys to Antarctica, including an expedition tracing Shackleton’s route through the Weddell Sea, Elephant Island, and South Georgia, intrepid adventurer Ian Evans brings this remarkable story to life. About Ian Evans
Ian Evans is an adventurer, speaker, business consultant, and founder of the Elora Adventure Film Festival. His documentary Lunatic tells the story of Ian’s quest to walk in the footsteps of his childhood Antarctic heroes (Shackleton, Scott and Amundsen) and his attempt to become the oldest Canadian to reach the South Pole.
