1. What is the Capital Fee, and what will it be used for?
The Capital Fee is a $3 fee placed on service charges that go directly to our capital facility project.
The Museum is planning an Archives & Museum capital project in the near future and this is one of the ways we are raising funds for the project.
2. Why do I have to pay the fee?
As a Museum, this is one way for us to raise funds towards what will be an important capital project that will allow for the ongoing collection and storage of irreplaceable Bruce County records and artifacts. We do ask for and would genuinely appreciate your support.
3. Why do I have to pay HST on the fee?
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires HST to be collected on all service charges, therefore we are required by CRA to charge HST on the capital fee. We later remit the HST to the government. If it was a choice, we would not charge HST.
4. Why is the fee applied to each ticket?
It is common practice for a non-voluntary fee to be charged per ticket, similar to purchasing tickets to sporting events, concerts or theatre productions. This fee is applied in the same way and is separated for transparency.
5. What if I just want to make a donation?
We would absolutely welcome a donation from you, however, the fee still applies to tickets and program registrations.
