Feb 3 Black History Month presentation happening at the BCM&CC

In recognition of Black History Month this February, the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre presents an afternoon of presentations and discussion on Black history and culture in Bruce County.

On February 3 from 1-3 PM, the BCM&CC welcomes talks from guest speakers including Ottawa-based historian William Felepchuk, members of the Grey-Bruce Afro-Caribbean Community, and Dr. Maureen Oyaide-Ofenor.

During the afternoon, attendees will hear the untold stories of early Black settlement within Bruce County and its surrounding regions, including the contributions, challenges, and triumphs of Black residents who have played a significant role in shaping the community’s heritage.

Attendees will also hear from a present-day perspective covering the County’s growing diversity through the lived experiences of members of the local Black community and learn more about the ongoing importance of inclusivity and understanding.
