Summer events and exhibits launch at BCM&CC

Southampton, ON [April 25, 2023] This week, the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre opens registration for its new roster of upcoming summer events and exhibits taking place from June through August.

Summer kicks off with the members exclusive opening of the exhibit Teens: Creative Minds on May 18 from 6-8 PM. During the opening, guests will have a first chance to see the exhibit, which highlights the profiles of 11 teens from across Canada who over the last 100 years have led the way for change through their innovative inventions. Southampton Rotary will be onsite with a BBQ dinner by cash/credit, and the evening will include entertainment for all ages. Museum members can RSVP online now at brucemuseum.ca.

On June 10, the juried show Escarpment Roots: The Land, The People the Story will open in partnership with the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists (BPSA). This show will include artwork in a variety of forms, all inspired by the natural beauty of the Niagara escarpment.

BCM&CC Pride Month programming will include a screening on June 8 of the critically acclaimed documentary Take Me to Prom (2019). Following the film, there will be a live, in-person discussion with film Director Andrew Moir and a panel discussion on LGBTQ2S+ issues led by community members in partnership with Kincardine Pride. The Museum’s Book Nook will also return for another year, featuring Pride-friendly books available for rent with a local library card.

Cultural Demonstrations will be back this summer along with Wonderful Wildlife Shows, both happening on select dates through July and August.

Summer Symphony, happening August 20, will bring world class musicians to the stage for an unforgettable afternoon of classical music.
