Break Out of the Bruce: Bus Trip to Stratford

All aboard! Our popular Bus Trip is back for another exciting excursion to Stratford! Prepare for a day filled with friends, shopping, and word-class theatre as we Break Out of the Bruce to see Shakespeare’s beloved comedy, “As You Like It”. 

About the Show  

The Forest of Arden, reimagined in this production, sees its pastoral calm upended by the arrival of a motley cast of courtiers, fools, dukes and ladies exiled from the pitiless world of court politics and dynastic succession. The latest arrivals: Orlando, banished by his cruel older brother after their father’s death, and Rosalind who, in her attempt to flee an equally cruel uncle, arrives on the scene disguised as a boy.  

When Orlando and Rosalind fall for one another, the question then becomes, can Orlando recognize the object of his affection through her cunning disguise and Arden’s shaded vales? Beloved for its wit and banter, As You Like It promises classic Shakespearean comedy befitting of modern audiences.

Itinerary

8:30 AM: Meet at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (33 Victoria St. N, Southampton, ON). Please check in with Program Coordinator upon arrival.

8:45 AM: Depart from the Museum.

• Show tickets will be distributed on the bus.

11:00 AM: Approximate arrival in front of the Bluebird Restaurant & Bar in Stratford (30 Ontario Street, Stratford, ON N5A 3G8).

11:00 AM – 1:15 PM: Shopping and Lunch break. Shopping/lunch is self-guided, and guests are free to explore beautiful downtown Stratford. In addition to Bluebird (opens 11:30am), other potential lunch spots include:

• Fellini’s Italian Cucina (opens 11:30am)
• Café Bouffon (Brunch 10am – 3pm)
• Features of Stratford (6:30am – 3:00pm)
• Bentleys Bar Inn & Restaurant (opens 11:30am)

Please note: You are responsible for your own lunch, including any reservations. If you have a preferred restaurant, we do recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

1:15 PM: Meet at the bus back at the Bluebird Restaurant and travel to the Festival Theatre (55 Queen Street, Stratford ON, N5A 4M9) for the 2:00 PM show start.

2:00 PM – 5:00 PM: As You Like It theatre show.

5:00 PM: Board the bus for the return trip to Southampton.

7:00 PM: Approximate arrival back at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (no after-hours access to Museum).

Notes:

• There is a washroom on the bus.
• Some complimentary snacks and drinks will be available on the bus.
• You can leave personal items on the bus during lunch and the show.
