Bruce Remembers: Ted Barris on his book Rush to Danger: Medics in the Line of Fire

October 22 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Thursday, October 22 | 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

In honour of Remembrance Day, we welcome acclaimed historian, broadcaster, and bestselling author Ted Barris for a presentation based on his book Rush to Danger: Medics in the Line of Fire.

This compelling talk highlights the significant contributions of military medics, surgeons, nursing sisters, stretcher-bearers, orderlies, and ambulance drivers who disregarded their own well-being to save the lives of others on the battlefield.

Among the stories featured is that of Ted’s own father, Sergeant Medic Alex Barris. Lost within the larger story of the Battle of the Bulge is a remarkable account of sacrifice and survival that took Ted nearly a lifetime to uncover. Throughout the winter of 1945, Alex Barris fought a relentless battle to save wounded soldiers during the liberation of Europe.

Drawing from Rush to Danger, Ted shares the stories of his father and countless other military medical personnel who answered the call during the most challenging moments in War history.

Coffee, tea, and treats will be provided.

$10 Members | $15 Non-Members. Registration is required.
