Join Beth Gilhespy for a guided tour of the best geology hikes in Grey and Bruce Counties, selected from the Walking Through Time book series. From dramatic cliffs and hidden caves to ancient coral reefs, waterfalls, fossils, karst landscapes and sweeping Georgian Bay vistas, this talk explores the stories written in stone across the Niagara Escarpment and beyond.
With photos, maps and personal stories from the trail, Beth brings the region’s geology to life, explaining how these remarkable places were formed hundreds of millions of years ago — and why they continue to inspire hikers, and nature lovers today. Whether you’re already familiar with the books or simply interested in local natural history, this presentation offers an engaging introduction to some of Grey and Bruce’s most memorable walks.
Two of Beth’s books, Walking Through Time: Exploring Niagara Escarpment Geology in the Sydenham Bruce Trail Section and Walking Through Time: Exploring Geology of the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula are available in the Museum’s gift shop.
Beth will also be selling her most recent release, the revised 2nd Edition of Walking Through Time: Exploring Niagara Escarpment Geology in the Beaver Valley Bruce Trail Section.
