SOUTHAMPTON, ON [June 27, 2022] On Wednesday, June 29, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre welcomes visitors to learn more about the Saugeen First Nation’s Ribbon Skirt Project (Maamwi Maadhookiidaa Miinggoozwin).
The program began as a way to bring women in the community and their families together during the pandemic, offering a chance to reconnect with one another while sharing gifts and creating ribbon skirts for other women in the community.
Museum visitors will learn more about the program, view skirts on display, and discover the Ribbon Skirts many meanings and origins dating back to the 17th and 18th century.
This is a free event. Seats are limited. Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to register at brucemuseum.ca.
