Art and Soul Exhibit Opening September 13 at Bruce County Museum

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre invites the public to celebrate the opening of its newest art exhibition. Art and Soul: Watercolour and Batik in Harmony by Bev Morgan, opens on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m.

This exhibition showcases the artistry of Hanover-based painter and instructor Bev Morgan, whose works blend the delicate traditions of watercolour with the vibrant textures of Batik. Watercolour Batik is a unique technique combining melted wax and watercolours on rice paper. Artists build up layers of colour and wax to preserve tones and values, eventually crumpling the waxed paper to create fine cracks that absorb darker pigments. The artist irons away the wax, revealing patterns which bring depth and character to the painting—giving each piece its signature Batik finish.

Morgan has been associated with the Southampton Arts Centre since 2011 and has been a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists since 2018. In addition to her local teaching, she has shared her expertise with thousands of students worldwide—leading classes in person, aboard cruise lines, and online through Udemy.com, where she proudly reports more than 8,500 students globally.

Admission to the exhibition opening is free, and all are welcome to attend. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar available. Guests are asked to RSVP online or by calling 519-797-2080.
