Learn how bees and butterflies power our ecosystems while getting your hands dirty making pollinator-friendly projects using native species. You’ll even get to take home some of your creations so you can make a real difference right in your own backyard.

Eco Explorers: Field Trip!
November 21 | 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
On Global Outdoor Leaning Day, we’re hitting the road for a field trip to Cape Croker Park for an Escarpment Ecology Adventure with Anishinaabe Interpretive Guide Caley Doran! At the Visitor’s Centre, we will discover the beauty of Anishinaabe language, traditions, and history through traditional tools and crafts, and by touching and holding real animal pelts and fossils. We will also explore the geological history of the traditional lands of the Anishinabek nation on guided hikes as we experience the natural history that has shaped the area. This outdoor program will run rain or shine, so dress for the weather! See more field trip information below.

Eco Explorers Field Trip Information
Drop-off/pick-up and proof of age:
Please bring your child’s health card if it is their first time doing a registered program (or any other piece of ID that shows both name and birthdate).
Arrival begins at 8:45 AM. and the bus will be leaving at 9:00 AM sharp. No stops or deviances from field trip routes can be made to accommodate late drop-offs.
There will be a sign in/out sheet at the front desk to ensure your child’s safe arrival and departure; please indicate who will be picking your child up that day on the sheet.
Pick up will be at the front of the Museum at 3:00 PM
What to bring:
Weather appropriate outdoor clothes – we will be outside all day rain or shine!
1 nut-free lunch
2 nut-free snacks
A water bottle
Good footwear
A change of clothes/extra socks
*Please label all items with participants’ names if possible
Do not send:
Electronic devices
Play weapons or weapons of any kind
Clothes that cannot get dirty
Non-essential personal belongings like toys or stuffies (to avoid lost items and mix-ups)
Please be advised that while we require nut-free snacks and lunches be brought, we are a nut-aware (not nut-free) facility, and our destination is also not not-free. If you have concerns about allergies, please speak to a staff member.
The Child Activity Assistance Program (CAAP) is a fund available for families with a gross income of less than $49,466.00. The fund assists families with the cost of activities such as school trips, school nutrition programs, extra-curricular activities, arts and cultural programs, Scouts/Brownies etc. Bruce County families can access this program for their dependent children under the age of 18, and receive up to $500.00 per child, per year.
