Our TIFF Film Circuit series continues with a screening of the 2023 Italian film There’s Still Tomorrow. In this moving comedic drama set in postwar Rome, a working-class woman dreams of a better future for herself and her daughter while facing abuse at the hands of her domineering husband. When a mysterious letter arrives, she discovers the courage to change the circumstances of her life.

About the Film

An Italian box office sensation and winner of six Italian Academy Awards, There’s Still Tomorrow is a neorealist-inspired drama with a sharp comedic edge. Set in postwar Rome and shot in black and white, it follows a resilient working-class woman as she endures daily struggles under the thumb of her oppressive husband. When her daughter’s engagement offers a glimpse of a different future — and a mysterious letter arrives — she finds the strength to rewrite her fate.
