End of Summer Demonstration Day

August 28, 2024 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join us for a special day full of cultural demonstrations with Chef Zach Keeshig of Naagan, Parks Canada, Elder Shirley John, and others!

Chef Zach Keeshig – Chef Zach will offer demonstrations throughout the day, showcasing how he processes locally harvested duck from forest to plate. Sample his creations and take home a piece of local flavor.

Parks Canada – Parks Canada will be on site to teach us all about turtles, including fun facts about their biology (they breathe out of their bums!), their conservation, and the cultural significance they hold for the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) peoples.

Elder Shirley John (Local Indigenous Elder) – Elder Shirley John will join us to share Elder teachings.

Author Dorothy Ladd and Southport Horticultural Society with Patti Byers of the Monarch Teacher Network – Enjoy a special reading by Dorothy Ladd from her book Memengwaa, the Monarch Butterfly and see a special butterfly tagging demonstration.

Proudly presented by Bruce Power.
