Muse-Talk: Wild and Wide – A Global Photography Story with Sandy Nelson

November 22 @ 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm
Muse Talks Academic Lecture Series

November 22 | 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM

Join us for an inspiring journey into the world of nature photography with local award-winning photographer Sandy Nelson, who discovered her passion later in life—thanks to a life-changing expedition to Antarctica. From humble beginnings with a point-and-shoot camera to capturing stunning wildlife and landscapes across the globe, her story is one of adventure, creativity, and lifelong learning. Through vivid images and personal anecdotes — from Costa Rica to the Galapagos, South Africa to Tobermory — she’ll share how photography became more than a hobby and how pushing past fear can lead to unforgettable experiences.

$10 Members | $15 Non-Members

Presented by Georgian College.

About Sandy Nelson

Sandy Nelson moved to Bruce County from Toronto in 1982 for love. Though that relationship ended, her love for this area is lifelong. She worked at Bruce Power from 1983 to 2015 and now lives in a LEED Gold home in Tiverton. Nelson joined Victoria Park Gallery in 2020 and serves as treasurer. Her photography tells nature’s stories—of wildlife, landscapes, and the wonder of life. Nelson hopes her images inspire people to do their part to preserve this wonderful earth. Awards include: ROM Wildlife Photo of the Year 2024, first place; The Gallery at LE Shore Library, Thornbury, open competition 2022, first place; and G Expedition’s Spirit of Shackleton voyage, first place photo.
