Join us for the final screening of our 2024 TIFF Film series, Perfect Days, a 2023 drama film directed by Wim Wenders. This acclaimed film offers a poignant look into the routine life of a public toilet cleaner in Tokyo. 

Experience this evocative and beautifully crafted film that celebrates the quiet moments of life and the depth of human experience 

 

About the Film 

Perfect Days follows Hirayama (Kōji Yakusho), whose daily routine as a public toilet cleaner in Tokyo reveals the beauty in simplicity. Directed by Wim Wenders and written by Wenders and Takuma Takasaki, this co-production between Japan and Germany has garnered international praise.  

The film premiered on May 23, 2023, at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d’Or and won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and the Best Actor Award for Kōji Yakusho. It has also been nominated for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards, marking a significant milestone as the first film not directed by a Japanese filmmaker to be nominated as the Japanese entry.
